Ok i've searched the tech section and couldnt find an answer but thing is..i've killed my rear diff centre. I have a spare front diff centre and was wondering if i can use my spare front centre in the rear???

it my daily but think the gti donk loves to chew centres and i cant find any rears at wreckers :(

The R&P are the same, but the side gears are not. Not sure if the centre actually bolts to the diff housing either.

But if you know what you are doing you could just swap the R&P.

i have heard people bolt in rear diffs in the front for stronger axles and for a front locker, so i dont see why it shouldent fit...But yes the spider gears have a different spline(front is smaller)

if it is a 85 to 97 model, the center will bolt into the housing front or rear, but as has been said, the side gears that spin the axles are different front and rear. they can be interchanged if you have some spare..

dont throw out your old rear center as you can use the side gears in future when you go bigger front axles

All this is for a sierra too :lol: Nothing was specified if it was for a sierra but the gti motor gave it away :wink: And if you have a vitara with a gti motor....WHY???? :lol:

not all diffs can swap the side gears front to rear, WT fronts sometimes have a crappy 2 pin diff and the side gears are different

NT have a 4 pin front so can be swapped and can also swap the side gears into a WT rear

you can also pull the entire hemisphere from a front and put a rear in
