Probably been covered before. but is the bolt pattern on a 1.3 head the same as a 1.6 and how much compresion is it and how easy is it, also what sort of power difference would it be?

yes same bolt pattern, will need 1600 head gasket.
the head sway is as easy as nuts and bolts and cam timing..
if swapping from 1300 to 1600 bottom end than there is a noticable power difference.
1600 bottom with 1300 head and carby, you will find it lacks power up top but has plenty more bottom end torque

Thanks 11_evl.
I don't want top end as much as i want bottom end so i can tow trailer and be easier crawling. I want to go from 1600 head to 1300 head on 1600 block, so i'll have no more Kw but more Nm.

A pretty deep grave dig here, didn't go with 1300 head.
But here is the thing instead of creating a new thread, i thought i could just hijack my own.

right down to bizz, is it possible to run a quad carb off a motorbike on a 1600 carb vit (hang on now here's the good bit) and supercharge it? yes i know it will take time but i am willing to do the hard yards.

chuck some input in if ya want to or other ideas, all well recived.

Yea mate everything is possible. Whats your knowledge base, mechanical and fabrication skills like? By the sounds of it, you seem to be thinking of a blow through setup with the 4 bike carbs. Hence you will have to fab up a new intake manifold to fit them, the stock intake also has coolant running through it as well as the thermostat so you will have to reroute the cooling passages as well as the thermostat. You wont be able to use CV style motorbike carbs either as they will not run with boost. You will then has to design a plenum chamber to direct the boost to all 4 carbs. The timing will have to be altered to stop detonation so since you are running the dizzy engine you could lock it at say 10-15 deg BTDC, this will be experimental (not ideal), or get a full stand alone ignition controller for it and map the timing yourself.

Personally the bike carbs sound like a crazy amount of work if running boost. Id suggest running a drawthru setup with something like a 1 3/4" SU style carb such as off a range rover, no real need for the bike carbs with boost just seems to complicate things alot more.

What condition is your engine is atm? Will you be rebuilding it?

i'm a second year mechanic so i have good knowledge of motors. Fab skills on the other hand are a bit... well... shit, but never say never.
the motor will be getting a rebuild, repaint and maybe new pistons.
