So i have been having problems with my brakes for the last few weeks. And they have never been "good".

At the moment i put my goot straight to the floor, however if i pump the brake pedal a few times i will have half decent braking untill i let go of the pedal?

Ive adjusted all the shoes today and they are tight and all clean. I am thinking could it be the mastercylinder not holiding pressure?
Do they hold pressure? Because by pumping it i am able to gain brakes?

Please tell me what you think !

Thanks alot.

Nick

You can find where to look for problem,
by using a brake hose clamp, at each wheel, see wether pedal comes back.

If it don't, probably is master cylinder.

If it goes hard when you block off rear, you know where to look,
can be rear wheel cylinders,

same for each front.

Sounds most likly to be air in the system to me but then I don't know much

Thats what i though it would be tony, but i bled the brakes multiple times and there seemed to be no bubbles of air coming out.. So that lead me to believe it was something else...

I am doing a disk brake conversion on the front within the next few weeks, can i upgrade to a Sierra master cylinder with the disk front and drum rear setup? or not?

youll have a shoe not adjsuted enough, they need to be a lot tighter than you would expect

but like christover said, clamp the flexible lines one at a time from teh mastercyl and work your way out, if you get a better pedal at any point start with downstream of that hose

Mastercylinders generally dont pump up when they fail but will 'sink' so you press the pedal and it takes up then slowly sinks away as the seals let the fluid leak past

you can fit a sierra booster and master but youll need to mod the firewall

Okay well thanks to you guys i now have it worked out./

The shoes need to be very very tight! So you can only just move it with 2 hands!

Thanks very much :D
