Hey guys I have a 95 model wt with a Gti motor in it. Essentially I am chasing the cheapest way to get my ratios back to stock. I have hear that the 1l transfer can be mated up, just wondering how much work is involved and how much reduction it offers over standard. I know that with my 31 s I will need 21% reduction to go back to stock.

Finding a good one, and converting to fit,
could cost as much as buying a set of transfer gears.
Unless you very handy with the tools.
In my opinion,
only worth doing if the 1.0 case is in real good condition, and cheap.

A 1.0 litre case is about 10% reduction over a 1.3 case.

I ran a 1.3 Sierra with 31's and a 1.o litre case.
It wasn't low enough, so I got diff gears as well.
(cheaper to get diff gears with 1.0 diffs)

PS.. I have only put 1.0 litre cases into narrow tracks,
I think theres more involved in fitting to a wide track,
but I have never done it.

I ran 1.3 Sierra 31's and a 1L case. Was better than stock gearing but still not great. Now have 4.16 case, which has 1L high range with 3.9 diff gears its awesome on road. Low range was driveable and still heaps of fun, just hard to crawl in some areas.
