hey all, my 1998 coily water pump started leaking so i replaced it. before removing the timing belt i noticed that when the cam shaft timing mark lined up the crankshaft mark was out by one tooth to the clockwise direction. The engine seems to run fine and doesnt seem that gutless for a 1.3L but i havnt driven another one to tell. It has always used a bit of fuel since i bought it (200km) to a tank so maybe that has something to do with it aswell. has anyone eles come across this or has someone just put the timing belt on wrong??

Cheers Wade

Sounds like an incorrect fitment. Fit it so all the marks line up and see what happens.

As long as all the timing marks line up, you'll be right.
Crank dot to top.
Cam dot to top.

that bit i understand. Its checking the timing with a timing light do i have to pull any vacuum lines off or anything? and I think i read something about doing it on no4 lead?

Timing should be set to no.1 firing therefore you time off this.

The only vac line to disconnect is the Vac advance on dizzy.
