hey all go a 96 vitara fuel injected auto. now changing from park into any gear it is harsh engagment but drives fine changing gears its only when selecting gears from a stand still like going from park to reverse or park to drive etc, any ideas? its got new oil. what oil is people running in theres? any help would be great. cheers |

broken mounts, high idle, slack in the diff can all make it harsh when it goes into gear |

nar none of that mate been looking for the problem for a while. it selects the gear like imediatly when you shift it down into drive or reverse ect. instead of gently selecting like most cars do. |

dextron111 oil is fine. |

I'm a diesel fitter guys it's nothing to do with the drive train. Seems like something maybe a sensor within in the gearbox or would the shifter linkage have something to do with it. is dextron 111 the right fluid? |

if the map sensor is incorrectly adjusted on the AW4 it can cause increased line pressures and cause it to hammer into gear, if it's a 3 speed (i think it has a kick down cable) if the cable is adjusted too tight it will also have the same effect |

How do you adjust the map sensor on them? |
