My Sierra feels like it's missing but could it be running on 3 or less cylinders? Once it's going it's ok but has no balls should I bite the bullet and do a rebuild? Or sus it out |

start the car and pull the lead of plug 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 when u pull one of and it dont make a difference to the way it idels you will know its that cylinder. if all of them make a difference then its running on 4 cylinders |

Still dos it really confused on what it is could it be the head gasket? No water in oil or vise versa but it is oily around the manifold pulling it off to have a look |

pull the air cleaner off and see if it helps if not swap two of the spark plug leads and start it. (put it back together PROPERLY first btw its gona go BANG when u do this, but it should temporaroly clean the carby. put the leads back on the right way and see if it works. just thinking of it. u havent pulled all the leads of and put them back in the wrong order at any point have you. signs for a rebuil gradualy get worse over a matter of months. normaly. |

im guessing an exaust valve on the second cylinder. but everything i know about engines comes from bikes mainly two strokes so exaust valves i cant help you with, is it burning oil? how many kms has it done? |

Smells like fuel almost like 2stroke lol And it gets blow by so oil in the airfilter |

well ur in need of some new rings for starters. and i would check the exaust valves while ur at it. dont ask me how coz idk, two stroke dirt bikes dont em them |

plugs are prob oil fouled. pull the plugs and clean them or replace them. Will be a temp fix but you will have to rebuild it sooner than later.......start looking for a cheap low km swift engine. |

The plugs are about 5 k old already fouled that's gay what year swift engine?? Or any I couldve got one of my mate for 450 with injection comp and all spewing |

Replacing the plugs won't fix it if something is wrong elsewhere. Clean them and go for a drive then have a look first. |

this is the basic checks i do when an engine isnt running right P= petrol, is the engine getting quantaty and quality needed. check, fuel filters lines etc, under petrol comes air aswell, this means does the car get the right fuel air mixture, run it with the airfilter off in a ust free environment and see if it helps. then do the switchy plug lead trick O= oil is it getting necissary lube, in your case probably not but it will do for now W=water is its cooling working right. is it using water. if so then ur head gasket is probs farked E= electrics, its a sierra so there is no ecu to worry about. check the output of the coil (dont think u need to in this case) then pull the dizzy cap of an wrigle gently the rotor SIDE TO SIDE and up and down DONT TWIST IT, is there much play in it (fairly good chance this may be the probs) note when u r doing this dont pull the leads of it. R= rubber is for getting the power to the floor. checks include, brakes, tyres drivetrain etc. ur having problems getting power not getting it to the floor so dont worry about this. have u tried doing the lead switch, to clean the carby, and go check the dizzy, like i said if the dizzy is fine pull your plugs one by one (not the leads, the plugs) plug the plug to the lead and holding the rubber bit with your hand and the tip of the plug to the engine block, get some one to turn the car over. if there is no spark, replace the plug (with a new one) and try again, if still no go, you need to check the out put of the coil, if thats all sweet, put a new set of leads on it. if your getting spark then u can rule out electrics. all that leaves if fuel air mixture (carby) and valving problems/ serious engine problems. check for water in the oil. (white gum on the filler cap) and we know the rings are fruked so not much point checken the oil other than it being there. either way if u reach this point your gona need to go to a mechanic |

Daves sierra burns quite a bit of oil and also blows it out the exhaust both on start up and when under load......and with that many kms on the original motor id say its time for a rebuild/replacement. Any fix to a motor with that many kms is only gonna be tempoary |

I'm goin to rebuild the motor that's in it later on with some goodies ie cam flat top pistons a little more power and no need for a engineers cert would Love to the 1.6 but money says no when I say yes hahaha I'll buy a cheap motor with low k for now it's my daily so it can't be off the road for more then a weekend witch sucks plus trying to get my Other car on the road and when that happens I can take it off the road and stuff around with it more then a weekend but thanks for the help I'll try doing some tests to get her running a little better after work tomorrow if I make there and home HAHAHAHA thanks for the help guys it's very much appreciated |

for starters try a thicker oil with a stabliser in it. should make it burn less. and keep cleaning the plugs. |

I'm running a thick oil it's a nulon can't remember how thick but it's one of the thickest hopefully have a engine this weekend in it and rebuild my carb I'll get my mate to have a look and see what he can do to get more time if I don't find one |

Pretty much the same motor but a few minor differences. You will have to swap the sumps, cam and manifolds over. possibly the water pump and pulleys too if you wanna keep a fixed sierra fan. nothing terribly hard just time consuming. get the motor and buy a VRS gasket kit. that way you get all the gaskets you need bar the sump gasket. |

Yer that could be a slight problem hahaha I pulled off the muddies to get it to run a little better and then drove to Hamilton and then in the city it just started and no where has a g13b engine so I think I'm fucked on what to do might rebuild it |
