check for spark, pull a plug, and hold it against the engine block whilst its pluged to the lead and see if its making spark.

Water in the spark plug hole, that seemed to cause trouble to mine.
Needed to get the engine hot then pull the plugs out n let it dry.

Drop your exhaust off and see if that fixes it.

High pressure water in engine bay is a bad idea, IMHO.
You can knock plugs/wires and sensors off, or loose.
A sensor could be wet, giving computer a bad signal.
Theres important fuses uinder bonnet, as well as inside.
Time in sun and wind with everything open may help.

have a look round the back of the motor and make sure the vacum hose to the Fuel Press. Regulator hasn't been knocked off or something... also have a look at the Airflow meter and make sure there's not a couple of beads of water on it. (if there is clean it with Contact cleaner :) )

engine was washed with just a normal hose with a lil pressure every thing is connected and dry as this happend nearly 2 weeks ago so i think if any had water it would be dry

Have you checked the distributor cap and rotor button? How worn are they? do they need a little hit with emery cloth to clean them up? Also check the spark leads for any cracks and crap.

if you start it and rev it, does it keep running or still die? as in - is it just not idling, or is it not running at all?

Post subject:  Re: engine got wet and now wont run

it will start but wont idle and dies if i put my foot on the accelarator asweel

i have spark right to my plugs so every thing to do with getting spark is working it is getting fuel to the injector rail

when it starts it sounds normal then it just stops

if it dies when u stomp it or after idling it sounds like a fuel air problem????

any broken wires...

do efi engines have chokes?

Author:  peteandliz [ Thu Nov 17, 2011 11:02 am ]
Post subject:  Re: engine got wet and now wont run

have you tried running it without the airfilter on? (dust free environment)check your earths

if its getting air freely and still dying it might be dirty fuel maybee you picked some mud up when u were wheeling, fuel filters, other than that idk, maybee PM steaky

Sounds similar to the problem the guy with the blue jimny was having. Might wanna get a gauge to check fuel pressure
