GV 2.4 auto. the only listing in the local shop is for repco brand oil and i dont really want to use it.

i want a good oil but will be halving the service interval and it has a 5.3 ltr sump so don't want something that is $30 a liter.

Have a look at the Repco stuff, some of it is made by Penrite

Just because their oil is made by Penrite (the company) doesn't mean it's the same as Penrite-branded oil. They may be different formula's.

Nulon make Repco additives (oil flush etc) but I don't think they are same formulas.

I used to use Valvoline Engine Armour Semi-Synth 15W40... but after some timing chain rattle, switched to Valvoline Durablend Semi-Synth 10W40, its about $40 for 5L, and its formulated for high engine demands, like 4x4/offroad use, no more timing chain rattle... :D

Magnetec 10W40 for me. Can be bought for $28 for 5L when on special, which seems to be every few months.

Have a read here, might help...
http://www.suzuki-forums.com/2g-2006-gr ... uys-2.html

But from the quick search i did on the net, it looks like it uses 0W30 for Europe, and 5W30 or 40 Fully Synthetic for other countries...

Does it have oil in it?? 8O 8O

All pommy shit leak oil

Post subject:  Re: 2.4 GV what engine oil?

yep, its full :)

the reason they leak is they let mechanics that were trained on Japanese lego set cars work on them, not the craftsman automotive engineers they require

So they get put back together all slap happy with no attention paid to getting surfaces lined up, centering housing so the seal actually runs concentric around a shaft etc

some call it poor design, I like to think if it as bespoke construction :)

I can tell you now, getting the timing cover to line up on the crank is an utter pain is the ass of a shit of a job, but the feeling you get after a long drive and you look at the top of the passenger engine mount and there is no stream of fresh oil on it makes it worth it :)
