I'm pretty sure he bar itself is OK, but if you drive around on the road with your spotties on you're asking for trouble. |

as long as you have the lights wired to highbeam through an independent switch and dont use them in a built up area I am pretty sure they are now legal, current RWC guidlines books dont seem to have anything in them about main beam lights needing to be under 1400mm at the reflector centre anymore |

As far as I can work out teh bar is alright as long as they are not on in suburbia. Check out Transport Operations (Road Use Management—Vehicle Standards and Safety) Regulation 1999 - Shedule 1. 62 How additional headlights are to be fitted If 2 or more additional headlights are fitted to a motor vehicle with 4 or more wheels, the additional headlights must as far as possible be fitted in pairs. That applies if they are operational. A lot of guys out here have a single spottie mounted on the roof for roo shooting but dont use it on the road, as soon as they turn it on its an offence. The bar will be right as long as you dont turn it on, if you turn them on then Section 5 applies, 5 Vehicles must comply with vehicle standards (1) A person must not drive or park, or permit someone else to drive or park, a vehicle on a road if— (a) the vehicle is not fitted with the equipment (the equipment) mentioned in, or required by, the vehicle standards, other than optional equipment, that is appropriate to the vehicle; or (b) the equipment does not comply with the requirements specified in the vehicle standards; or (c) the vehicle is not otherwise constructed and loaded to comply with the vehicle standards; or (d) the vehicle, its parts or equipment are not in safe condition; or (e) the vehicle is not unsafe, but it is otherwise defective; or (f) optional equipment fitted to the vehicle does not comply with the requirements in the vehicle standards for the optional equipment; or (g) the stationary noise level of the vehicle does not comply with the vehicle standards. Maximum penalty—20 penalty units. Take note of sub section (f). In Qld this is a Type 2 offence and will get your vehicle impounded!!! My advice, Check out the above legislation and go and see your local Traffic Branch Police or QT and check with them. If they say its alright get their name, rank and registered number for the record if you get pulled up. PM me if you have and further questions. Inspector Plod. |
