Post subject:  ECU's Imobilisers, keys, and Jimnys

Ok, so help me out. I know where the ECU is, it's down under the pasenger side plastic in the footwell I think.

So what parts need to be matched in order for the imobiliser to operate correctly? Does the key have a chip in it? Does the ECu have the imobiliser inside it, or is it a seperate unit?

If the imobiliser is a seperate unit, then where is it and whats it look like?

have I missed any components out? another thread talked about a transponder?
