I bought an auto cooler from a Mitsubish Galant.
Its a 94 V6 with a stand alone Cooler for auto,
and correct pipe size and connector type for my Vitara 1.6.
I figure a V6 cooler would be enough for a 1.6.
Wasn't any thing else in good enough nick and right type.
It's not as big as I expected/hoped for,
but Mitsubishi thought it was fine for a bigger donk..

Now to the question.
It was fitted vertically in the Mitsi,
The higher pipe a similar height to both pipe outlets on its auto.
There is no in or out markings,
but my guess is it be in at top.

Does it matter which way I mount it,
does in or out matter,
and will it matter if its higher than the Vits autos output?

Thanks all,
if I can't be sure will fit as I found it on the mitsi.

Height wont matter, it will pump through either way

It might be good if the outlet is higher than the body of the cooler and at least level with the inlet so you dont get an air pocket in there.

I found it in this position, on drivers side close to the fan.
Which makes sense on the Vit, too, as fan is so offset.
I could easily mount same way, with outlet up.
Or could mount it with both in and out pointing up

The cooler I bought is an after market one fitted to the Galant as a stand alone.
I went wrecker looking today, for ideas,
all the other Galants have a radiator type auto cooler,
and a separate cooler in series when stock.
nothing like the one I bought.
Can't find a brand name on it,
but is made in Canada, or patented there.

So still thinking about :in series or stand alone with it.

Just learned it is a stacked plate type cooler,
supposed to be better cooling,
bit more debris resistant,
and more sturdy.

Sometimes ya win :)

I suspect motor may run a bit cooler as well,
cos radiator has less to do,
but thats an uneducated guess

mitsus are very stone resistant good choice there. i would def mount in series after the radiator. the cooler dosent have to be upright like that but putting a tilt on it so output is a little higher to get air out is def a good idea. upright does look neater. motor wont run cooler becuase the cooling system is designed to hold a certain temp it will take a little load of the system though which def wont hurt.

sorry about using "def" alot sounds a little bogan. i just had a brain fart and forgot how to spell.....well def.lol.
