I had same problem today. Ended up being some crap in carby. Blew it clean with forced backfire and all is good. Time for a new fuel filter for me. Try cleaning you carby. |

take the intake bit off the top of the carby, rev it up a little by pulling on the cable, put your hand over the throttle body (it'll suck your hand on hard), rev it till it just about dies then pull your hand off... used to have to do that on mine on occasion to clear it out. |

I had this problem not long ago, tried swapping leads 2 and 3 as well as smothering the carby with a rag. Thanks to one of the mechanics at work who used to have a few zooks I found out my auto choke was stuck on and was flooding the carb which is why it would die at idle (coming up to traffic lights). So he used a cable tie to stop the choke coming on at all. Just need to let it idle in the mornings for 5 mins before driving. |

So he used a cable tie to stop the choke coming on at all. Just need to let it idle in the mornings for 5 mins before driving. Just to clear it up these are two different methods that are not to be used together. 1. Crossing leads 2 & 3 (with carby hat off ) for a forced backfire. What I did. 2. Smother carby as per Alien's post |

^^ You more than likely knew that. Wouldn't want someone who didn't know any better giving it a shot. |
