Post subject:  Vitara Power Windows not working!

Hi guys,

Long time no talk, been all over Victoria for work, to busy to get to a computer.

SWB Vitara.

I've checked the drivers side module. It definetly works, both windows work properly when connected to a direct power line from the battery. But they don't work with the swtiches.

Is there a fuse i'm missing? I've checked all of the ones in the drivers side footwell, and the ones on the drivers side of the car in the engine bay. All of them are fine.

So is there a relay or a fuse I'm missing?

Cheers

Matty

Besides the fuses you've checked I'm not 100% certain where or what relay's, but perhaps it could be the switch's themselves.

Try Atari's fix to see if that helps : http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... wer+switch

Thanks for the reply. Switches are working. I've checked different switches in my car and none of them work.

I want to start off by saying that I know nothing about car electrics, that said however, have you checked the wiring between the switch/es and the window motors?

Ya never know, they could be dodgy... ?

What I mean is. When I run a power lead from the battery directly to the window motors, I can power them up and down.

I have tested my switches on another Vitara and they work, I have also tested the other Vitara's switches in my car and they dont work, but put them back in the other Vitara and they work again.

So my point is the switches are fully functional and are not the issue in my car.

There must be a wiring problem, or a relay that I cannot find in the dash.

I was hpoing someone had come across this issue before and could help me.

:)

Cheers

There is a little switch thing its a little oval shape near the fuse box that if.they get too hot cut power or if you drill through the power window loom I found it by tracing the wore from the fuse box

Second that. Mine on my old 416 stopped, and that little thingy was the culprit. It seems to be a thermal overload. Don't despair, it's adjustable. There's a small nut on the back side of it. try adjusting it a little and try the windows again. From memory, I turned mine out around one turn then back in 1.5 turns. No more problems.
