Cut of diff perch and weld back on in nt or wt spacing. Making sure you get the castor right as well. Highsteer kit. Driveshaft modifications? Getting it engineered. Sorry I'm not much help more then that |

Yes it has been done heaps of times but there are very few threads that actually cover the conversion. This is the only one I could find with 10 minutes searching, and I don't think it is a good example. (whacky shackles, SPOA etc) and like most of these conversions, it's now gone coil rear to counteract some of the problems. http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... pic&t=5553 As for what to do with the offset of the rear diff? - use a Bundera housing. Steve. |

Extra width being the sole reason for lux diffs is pretty silly in my opinion. They're only 60mm wider. You can gain that in an offset rim. |

Lux diffs arent actually much wider, the reason they used to be popular was cause it was the only way to get more strength and gearing now chromo axles and CV's, along with a huge range of transfer gearsets makes it a not so useful option |

Think of it in terms of the return on investment, of your time and money. Even if you have a par of free hilux diffs, once you do the sums it becomes pretty obvious that Hilux diffs aren't the best option. |

Still not enough reason to go lux diffs IMO, then again I don't have problems with wheel bearings. If you are changing wheel bearings every few months your opinion may differ. |

What are your plans for the car, daily driver or trailer queen comp car ? What size tyre do you plan on running ? |

Ive got a new seal at work that will make those solid front end hilux and land cruiser bearings last longer again. |

Mate, where the f*ck did you get that shit from? I did not go to coil rear's to "counteract" some of the "problems" that the lux diff conversion has caused to my zook. The conversion I did has been 100% reliable, strong, and I do not have a single problem with any of it. It took a bloody long time to write up that thread, which was designed to help people on this forum.. and the last thing I want to read is how some "god" like yourself doesn't approve of it. |

So it doesn't drive better with coils than SPOA with whacky shackles? That's a shame, what was the reason you coiled it then? Anyways, I'm not being a God, just a realist who has been around a while. Do you have any idea how many people have built cars like yours and ended up going down the same path (coils) because of wobbly, pig rooty axle wrappy hoppy floppy behaviour, on and off road? Heavy axles, a light car, SPOA and uncontrolled travel isn't a good solution for anything other than a ramp queen. In case you think I'm being holier than thou, I'm not - my own car is coiled to improve on and off road drivability, and that was SPUA and ran light axles, and I've built tonnes of cars leaf rear. If you post a build thread that combines a whole lot of stuff that lots of us have seen work poorly before, you have to expect us to highlight that. Steve. |

I went lux diffs and coilovers because i was over leafs. My swb worked awesome, but now im after more comfort that can handle 35"+ with ease. |

You dont need Lux diffs for the powerlines or in fact any tracks within a days driving distance of Perth really If this is your first 4WD or Suzuki then drive it as is for now and get use to how it drives on some funky angles, its a completely different experience then driving other bigger 4WD's. |

I don't understand how you think spoa leaf springs are unstable, I used to own a GU a few years ago with 6" lifted coils, whilst it was tall, I still prefer to be on a side lean with leafs than coils. Their is nothing stopping the car from tilting over with coils, whilst a leaf has better holding characteristics. guess what, I rolled the Nissan, I've owned 3 zooks now and not rolled one from any kind of side lean that hasn't been 'excessive'. Everyone's opinions are different due to their experiences in life, my LWB spoa lux diff zook, I stayed with leaves, and Im happy. I've been in zookernators zook and I'd say coils are for ramp queens. One of the best drivers I've ever had the privelage of watching here in Tassie, (Darren @ TJA in launnie Coxy) runs an 86 model lux dual cab on 33's beadlocks, and twin air lockers, his old work mate had a GU flatty on 36" pedes with all the lockers and the wank snake megalift and the hilux stuck with it all weekend as a teammate in a local comp, Doing a really steep hillclimb at the top the drivers were required to turn around, still on a lean, and the patrol layed into a tree, damaging the side of it, and the Hilux never went anywhere near the tree on the same line! my 2c worth, not having a go at anyone particully in this thread, but It does shit me with the " I know it all I've built a heap in my life and they are a shit idea". I'm doing it exactly for what was mentioned earlier, Im sick to death of changing suzuki wheel bearings and diff centres from running 31s or bigger on it. And before you say 'you don't know how to set them up properly', I've been a mechanic for 9 years and always owned a Sierra through those years, and I'd take it offensively if someone told me I was still doing it wrong!! Cheers Superduki. |

I run 31's and rear locker only, and i drive the powerlines a lot, sure theres still 1 or 2 bits i cant drive up, but thats the challenge. If you built a full on comp truck just to drive out there you'd be bored shitless. |

If you're worried about being unstable get some larger offset rims. But really when you're getting on an angle you think might roll you usually have a fair bit more to go before you're close. |

If you drive it for a couple of months you will eventually see what would assist you offroad. If you jump into diffs from other cars big lift etc you might find you hate driving it and/or get yourself into grief. |

There is only a couple of inches difference total between Lux and WT Sierra diffs anyway, so a decent offset rim will get you close to that. Have a look at Aliens build 'The UFO' for an insight into what is needed for a SPOA setup, once again it isnt a 5 minute job. |
