Hey there fellow Auszookers I am on my way to Fraser Island from Coffs Harbour on the 7th of January with the Jimny. Currently my set-up is - Toughdog 80mm springs and shocks, panhard rods. standard 205/70 26" tyres. I have been waiting to sort out some reduction to put the 30's on the jim, that's %15.4 larger. I have a 2" bodylift to put in if needed, and about to purchase some extended brake lines. there is already a bit of guard chopping done. My question is should i put my 30" tyres on for the trip or not? Also, while i am at it. I just had a look at the front axle and it appears that my drivers side lower king pin bearing is worn as there seems to be a very small amount of play. there is no oil leaking anywhere at all, no wobbly and no strange noise. should i fix this before i go or should it be ok? |

I wouldnt touch the tyres. 30's will just make it a slug on and offroad. Really need reductions somewhere. Id leave it. Not enough time to fix it unless you do it yourself. Then there might be the chance, because you've had your front end apart, you may get wobbles. Would make the trip hell.. |

At a bare minimum take the spare parts with you, just incase it fails mid trip. |

Theres plenty of hire Jimny's carving up Fraser. I'd be surprised if they had much work done to them modifications wise. I say just drive it. |

Stock suzukis go a fair way on fraiser I'd say just drive it, just dont go stupid places. If your from cuffs harbour, That's a long drive, so your fuel Milage won't be so good running 30's with standard geearing. |

Well that was an adventurous read-a-thon, but now i have a better understanding as for what shims are for. steak_knife wrote: suzooky87 wrote: Scrawn wrote: What are shims for? ![]() X2 http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Fo ... ic&t=15499 I could shim em on ya way through if you like... That would be awesome if it could be fixed, i don't have any noticeable wobble though? And i don't see how this will stop it from leaking and or stop the wheel from moving. When jacked up the wheel can be wiggled backwards a little in relation to the direction of camber. but if it would fix this issue i would love to have it sorted before i got to Fraser, thanks |
