One of my mates was asking that if he put a 1.3 into his 1ltr zook and took it for blue slip would they ask for a engineers report or just rego it as a 1.3? cheers |

I am about to do the same thing after Christmas so will tell you then but I think it depends on where you are and who you go to. |

i asked a similar question about getting a blue slip with a gti engine. they told me the engine must be the original engine the model came out with. so if they pick up on it i reckon they'll knock him back. In saying that, i got a 2l wrx through a blueslip with a 2.5l |

More information need: Which version of the SJ40 are we talking about? If it's a Type 3, it won't need an Engineer's Cert. Type 1 or 2, it may or may not, depending how the mounts have been done and if you have got around to fitting front discs yet (Brake Booster not req'd). There is an RTA (now RMS!!) document published which gives the allowable modifications for a range of specific vehicles without requiring an engineering signatory. It lists certain requirements to meet the exemption. Any Suzuki 4wd from 1974 to 1985 (LJ50, LJ80, SJ40) may be fitted with a Suzuki engine up to 1324cc provided factory engine and gearbox mounts are retained (Not welded) and disc brakes are fitted. So an F10A into an LJ80 is OK with discs, or a G13A or G13BA into a SJ40 with discs fitted. Any fabrication, grinding or welding (either of Chassis or non-factory bracketry) disqualifies the vehicle from the exemption and will require an Engineer's Certificate. I have a copy of the document, but will have to have a scratch around where to find it. |
