ok i'm not sure how much lift is in my car??? i know that they are "king springs" (leafs) i'm pretty sure it is 3 inch because i dont think they make a 2 or a 1 inch lift. but besides the point i need new shocks and dont know what to order and wheres cheap. lowrange sells the old emu and doetsch but i dont know which is going to bolt straight in.

thanks heaps

Take the shocks out that you have in it. Flex it up. Measure the distances between the mounts. Go to repco or peddars etc. Tell them what you need theyll give u it. I think i ended up with navara shocks and some random ones it all depends on your height and droop etc.

What shocks to get???????

Well unless you have put extended bumpstops in you will have to stick with stock ones. Otherwise when it compresses it will just snap the mounts off and possibly rip open the side of the chasis.

That is only true of the compressed length pf the shock is longer than full compression of the spring.

Bugsta, that's only true of coil springs. I'm going to assume from the post that the OP has leaf springs, in which case there's no real "compressed" data - they will keep compressing until they bend and bumpstop placement is critical.

In any case, only Calmini think it's OK to use the compressed length of a coil spring to prevent shock bottoming. The rest of us call that "coil bind" which is unacceptable.

Sorry my bad. I admit I glossed over that bit as he does actually say that.

And yes, agreed.

I have 500mm Monroes in and i am wondering if that was a bit too long as both of mine have now become useless, but after a number of offroad outings.

Would they be killed by just one decent bottom out or would it take a few??
