Anyone seen these, thought they were a good idea and I fitted one to the Vitara last oil change. I had to remove the skid plates every oil change so was a pain. http://www.nospillsystems.com/home |

They've just put something like that on all our trucks at work. but they get serviced every 2 weeks, not 6 monthly. |

Here's a little test for anyone considering one of those "no spill" drainers. Drain the oil, and stick your pinky finger through the drain hole - you're trying to gauge the thickness of the boss where the plug screws in - now compare that to the thickness of the threaded portion of the valve fitting. If you already have one of them - drain the oil and close the fitting - place a clean pan below the fitting and remove the fitting and see what comes out. They have the potential to trap a surprising amount of old oil and worse, the "heavier than oil" sludge - although exactly how much will vary from one engine to the next. |

Shouldn't your belly plates just have a hole below your drain plug somewhere to make it easily accessable with a socket and extension? |

No I have the Calmini plates, was going to drill a hole in them at one stage. |

The threaded section was the same as the old sump plug, but if the plug extends pass the sump I can't say for sure. Don't hang off them when using a socket and the skid plate is there to protect it. |

Just checked the website and found this, doesn't mean anyone should take there word and will check the clearance myself. Does any oil get left in the pan? No. Femco plugs are designed to sit flush with the pan. Therefore, all of the oil is drained quickly and easily. |
