How Important is the radiator fan shroud on a Jimny? It Just gets in my way any time I want to tinker. Will Cooling suffer much if I remove it for good? |

I'm thinking I might try cutting it onto 2 pieces and rig up some joining brackts so I can remove the passenger side piece when I need to work in there. |

I did similar on my old Sierra. Mine was cut 1/4 and 3/4 It makes life easier. And yes shroud is needed. |

I was thinking bottom left and top middle so the large section on the left can be pulled up and out past the fan. Just have to work out a way of joining the sections again. |

The shroud is designed to create a "tunnel" for the the air to travel through. The blade design will allow the tunnel to physically draw air through the radiator, aiding in the cooling of the coolant. If you remove the shroud, the fan just blows hot air around the engine bay, not allowing any cold air to be drawn through the radiator! But cutting it is a good idea, Holden Rodeo's and Jackaroo's run a split shroud from factory which is handy working on them! Regards, Superduki. |
