Went to fill up the coolant system of my vit which i have almost finished converting to a g16b from the carby. Water started dribbling out from the water pump, assumed gasket so changed that, only to find it still leaks, upon a closer look i found that theres a hole on the underside of the pump, similar or the same as the one on top, and it appears the water is leaking from there. I will post pics when i get on the computer. Anyone have an idea why its leaking or what i can do to fix it? The holes are obviously meant to be there but cant work out why its leaking. Motor was in an accident in the car it used to be and the fan copped a decent whack.
Cheers in advance,
Brandon

The hole is a breather. In your case it sounds like the pump is rooted.
If you're doing a conversion, fitting a new pump should be a top priority for piece of mind before the engine goes in.
Looks like you don't have an option.

timing belt looks really good, engine only 20k old since a full rebuild, i think it was just the accident that got the pump, the fan was bent up and must of taken a pretty hard knock.
and will check the pulley too, didnt really think of that. cheers
