Hi Guys. Happy New Year.

I'm still trying to establish whether a T-case for a G16 motor will fit my SV420. I need to get mine overhauled and someone has given me a complete low km G16 gearbox and T-case. Most of the measurements I can take seem to be the same. I'm planning on taking it to a mechanic to do the swap. An e trader up north is telling me they are different and he has the right one for $500. It'll be a bugger plus several days delay if the mechanic hauls mine out and the G16 doesn't fit.

Back to the drawing board. The T-case I picked up has the wrong splines, my T-case is not so bad and probably not the cause of my worrying "hesitation". I had two mechanics scratching their holidayed heads today. One was certain it is a miss the other not so sure. They put an extra O2 sensor nut on the exhaust and put in a sensor for a test drive. Reading indicated ideally tuned.

Looking at the 1600 gearbox, it has two mount points, the one on the cross member and one on the side. Mine doesn't have a side mount (round one at rear of T-case. Could it be the mount is simply missing and this is causing my vibration/miss which is particularly bad when trying to maintain a steady speed (eg 50 kph in 4th gear)? If you have an SV420 (Gus and Fatzook) could you check or confirm to me that they only have one mount point please?

I can tell you fatzooks has a single mount as does my sv620 some of the early 1.6 had the two mounts not sure they all did

Cheers Gus.

I have one but there's not much use trying to fit it if 1. its not designed for the SV420 and 2. the problem is elsewhere. Desperately clutching at straws but may know more tomorrow afternoon.

Steve.
