I have gotten rid of my rear bumper and mounts, cut off the lower sills that were behind the bumper, going to mount the tail lights and number plate on the rear door, was thinking about something like these; http://led-catalogue.ledautolamps.com/O ... E/ledtech/ anyone had any experience with them? |

i have to look into the regs for it before i go all gung ho into it, if i have to out them back into a bar at the bottom so be it, though i can only imagine they would be easier to see being LED and higher up the door. found a cool number plate holder with LED along the top at same site http://led-catalogue.ledautolamps.com/O ... May be different down there but in Qld they have to be on a fixed panel, so opening doors/tailgates are out. Number plate can go on the door tho |

Would think what you can do with tail lights would be nationally constent. Tail lights are covered by ADR's - which have been nationally consistent since 89.... http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... nline.aspx |

found nothing about whether they had to be attached to a fixed panel or not in the ADR website, will have to keep trying in the SA regs but come up with nothing so far |

Fixed panel doesn't matter, millions of hatch backs and sedans have them on the boot. The ADR pretty much says that the lights should be at the lowest, widest points. |

The ADR pretty much says that the lights should be at the lowest, widest points. But they usually have them on the end of the rear quarter panel too. Don't think I've ever seen a hatch with lights on the opening hatch only |

I didn't mean that they can only go on the lid, all I was saying is that they can be fixed to a moving panel. They also need to be visible from side on (blinkers), but that may be a new thing, as stock Sierra lights were not. |

yeah they have to be visable from a certain side angle, which is why Jimny and GV etc have them in the bar and not the body, the spare tyre obscures them |

i was thinking the same about hatch backs having them on the rear door & sedans in the boot lid, but I havent seen them on only those though. From what I can see in the regs as long as I comply with the angles the lights can be viewed from as Royce said I think I might be ok. I am not going to be having the spare mounted on the the rear door either, so it wont obscure the view of the indicators, so I wont have any issues with that |

I might need to put some small indicators on the side at the rear though to comply with side view |
