Not true. If you play your cards right and the rest of the car is in good condition you could get a fair bit back.

220 is on the high side, but still have plenty left if has been maintained.

Well yes. Even Sierra parts don't sell instantly.

I got a 2001 with 80,000km and only damage on the front left wishbone/cv e.t.c. and bumper from the auctions for $800.

It cost me about $1,050 or so by the time I paid GST and freight. You can do better than what you're looking at, just look harder and longer.

Baleno's are worth SFA ....
I bought one ex auctions for $300 with sub 100,000 km on it (2000 model with coilpacks).
Swinging panels are all perfect as was the interior but nobody wanted ANY of it.
I got a good motor and loom and the rest is scrap. Goes monday morning actually.. :D

I was wondering if I'd been able to get it cheaper if I turned up, I had to put in an absentee bid, they explained that it starts at the reserve and goes up as someone bids against you, like ebay e.t.c.

I got it for the max i'd put down... I asked for a bid history and sure enough, they don't supply one...

So basically go there and make sure you're getting it as cheap as possible, yes I'm still happy as I feel I got a bargain for what I got, even though as want33's says if you're lucky you can get them cheaper again.

Took me ages to find one up here that was/is suitable though, and even then it's an auto, had a walking stick in it too and all the paperwork so I doubt it's seen the hardest point in its life yet :p
