Hello,
i'm looking for some answers, after a no go with the search.
I'm looking for replacment engine for my sj80 for some time..
i found one that came of suzuki euroswift 97.
it a G13BA tbi and i would like to fit it in my coily.
i also like to know if there's a way to find info like production year by the engine number.
I'll appricate your help guys.

BTW. i'm reading on auszookers for some time now and i must say it the best i read by now for a coily owner, so thanks! and i wish i could done one of your trail at au.

I don't know about Israel, but in Australia TBI swifts are a narrow year number, maybe 98???

Maybe for ordering parts?

Even if you have accurate schematics, correct date and time the part was produced and the name of the father of the company, the clowns at Repco (90% of them) will still order the wrong part the first time.

from what i understand by now i need to change from my old coily engine to the swift one: the: intake, extractor, distubuter, and oil sump.
that's it? i even heard from some mechanic in my area that i need to change the camshaft... is it corect?

by the way the reason i like to know when it was made is just an info i like to know, nothing more.
'cuze the engine came from 97 swift but it got from japan first before it was installed on the 97 swift that got crashed in a car accident (not the original engine of the swift.)
so i know very little on it not the real year, and not how much km it did

Is your coily efi now? We got carb only.

Do you need that year for regulations? (we need a same year or newer motor in our cars)

We didnt get any 1.3TBI at all in any suzuki. Our 1.6TBI swifts are fairly rare. We didnt get many, and only in sedan form. All the others we got are mpfi vitara/sidekicks G16b
mpfi G16b Baleno/Esteems
mpfi G13bb in the more round Jimny's
mpfi twincam G13b Gti swifts

Otherwise, your swift tbi1.3 will be a simple conversion. The distributer will have to be changed to your coily one, or cutout your firewall and wiring will be the hardest bit. (not hard)

my coily is tbi 8v, i were sure your sj80 are also tbi, nice to know.

will it help to put cold camshaft to a tbi engine?
is it an improvments on the carbs?

all our sj40/50/51/80 are carbs. sj80 fuel tank is setup for efi, but with no pump.

The sj80 g13a will be very similar to your g13ba out of the swift. g13a are normal 1324cc. 'ba' is 1298cc. We have minor differences here with pulleys and water pump for fan. this is for g13a carb swift and carb sj. Again, your models may be different.

Some people use cams, they will change the max power curve to higher or lower. but same power only.

tbi is nicer than carb. You don't want carb if you have efi.(tbi)
