Hi guys I have had my jimny for a month now and I am starting to think what mods I want on it the mod I am looking at first is replacing the factory radio with a Polaris in dash gps with duel maps. I just wanted to know if anyone had done this and how it works.

what year model is your jimny? Mine is 99, which I think is the same all the way up to 2005..
the black surround (surrounding the two din slots) unclips.. to do this you need to take out the ashtray, undo two screws under the top lip of that hole. undo two screws at the bottom of the surround (under the lip) and undo one in the centre at the top of the surround (under the lip again). Then it clips off
Then there are four screws to take out the cage. Assuming the polaris one is double-din mount, it should fit in this cage. I would check dimensions first. You will also need to solder/rewire the plug, as a doubt the stock one will fit your head unit.
I thought about buying the double-din in-dash gps units, but given how low the din slots are and the angle the screen would sit at, I went with a screen that is mounted on top of the dash and is connected to the stereo. Screen much closer to eye height so much safer to operate while driving
