last week after a quick wheel after work it seems I have broken my locker....

the problem is it now works too well... it cant be unlocked!

no grinding or clunks so I guess i haven't smashed it to bits but something is not right.

drained the oil and didn't find any chunks. also lifting both rear wheels and rolling the wheels around doesn't work.

any ideas? or am i going to have to pull the diff out?

poo =[

I can't remember the actual cost of the piston but it was something like $220 all up & about 180 of that was labour.

i pulled the diff & left it on their counter.

these are the parts replaced from the other thread, most of it was replaced due to it being pulled apart.

parts replaced:

Quad Ring, XR133V75 x 2
part number 160235

Locking Tab 6mm x8
part number 150402

U Ring - RD 75/87/88/118 x 1
part number 160306

Piston, G Type x1
part number 040201

hmmm, from memory you bought those new second hand/new in box of an adelaide AZ member?

what are the chances of those both being from the same batch? i've got the serial number written down, pretty sure they would have come from the same store about the same time.

 makes me mad knowing they dicked me around for months on end sending it to head office.

:edit: maybe flick a PM to joeblow if he doesn't post here to see if you can get a 2nd opinion.

Sounds like atari is right. They've got rid of the plastic pistons now, I was the last one to get an rd88 with one... How old os the locker? You might be able to get warranty.

the copylocker would be running the same plastic piston as they're using the older design.

it went to head office for them to try & do a warranty claim on it for me as it was just out off the 12 months.

can't believe that ARB thought it would be a suitable material to use, did yours look like it was really poorly cast?

surely someone would have been able to trim your old username of the shit numbers if you asked nicely  but then again, you might end up with something like steak_knife or something_else.

you just need to reset the pre-load right on the bearings to get the same backlash as previous.

this might help somewhat. http://chromatographyonline.findanalyti ... ?id=277669
