Hi Boys n Girls Was wondering about central locking kits today for the Jim, has anyone here put one in themselves? any recommendations on particular kits that fit easily than others? i know some can be a complete pain in the ring to fit. Ill have no dramas wiring one, just seeking advice on brands/prices etc? was looking at the Jaycar 4door kit (leave one actuator out) and the wireless keyfob addon kit. $90 together. |

I put a central locking kit in my first sierra and it was a heap of shit, only worked for 6 months, and had mutiple brown wires which made wiring it up a bit of a challenge lol As for what brand it was I cant remeber, just buy a Jay-car kit |

well i got the jaycar kit (steelmate brand) its 2 kits, one for actuators and one for the remote addon. Just installiong it now, its a piece of piss to install, just use the ecu unit and harness from the remote pack instead of the one supplied with the actuators and good to go. seems pretty good quality for a 90 dollar all up kit. heres how i mounted them in the door, for anyone considering the job, think its the best way as it doesnt provide any hooking points for someone trying to break in. (well any extra ones anyway)
this is the way its orientated
I havent got a pic of the back door, but i used the 2 existing holes in the lower right hand of the door. i had to remove one of the trim clips from the trimming, but it works a treat. Just had to use some largish washers for the screws to work on the big trim holes. PS Mod's feel free to chuck this in the good tech if you deem fit. |

Ive installed quite a few of these, Rather than getting just the remote kit I usually installed a car alarm that has a trigger for the central locking (most do) even used a cheap one from kmart once for $40. |
