Ok so I have swapped out my sj80 chassis (coily) for a sj70 chassis (leafy). My question is what dramas will I encounter to get it regoed. Should I take the compliance plates from the sj70 body and put into the sj80 cab or will there be any dramas with Queensland transport. any info would be good thanks.

This might have been a good thing to research BEFORE doing the work.

Have you called QT and asked them yet?

May have to get bodgy from here.... Defiantly don't give QT your name or the cars details if you ring them, in case you have to swap the plates/numbers.

Better than that, pose the question as a hypothetical scenario. ie, you want to do it, but are checking first. Like you should have done in the first place.

Not sure what the rules are on using an older chassis than what the vehicle came with....specially since its a different model. Might be easier to cancel the rego on the SJ80, and register the SJ70 with a body swap.

did you get the body plate with the old chasis if you did just peel of the coily one and glue the other on there and regester it as the old leaf one

youll be registering it as an SJ70 with a body swap, I reckon somebody somewhere will want a mod plate for it and somebody else will want the police to issue a new major repair or cant be id'ed vin for it

Technically it'll be the 70 with an 80 body, which shouldn't be a problem as the 80 had more safety features, intrusion bars etc. Even the other way around I can't think of any safety features the coily had chassis wise the WT didn't. Brakes might be the only issue if they're different, which of cause the coily would be as nothing fits a coily.

Damn lucky the chassis mounts are the same.
