hi everyone, i have a 93 swb 2 dr soft top vitara. The motor is an import as the fuel pump is not on the engine but under the rear of the vehicle, it is external electric..
the problem: it will start in the morning no problems, starts drives to work without an issue, BUT after work it will bearly start, after pumping the throttle and lots os swearing it will eventually start, THEN when i drive home it is really sluggish, it feels like it is bunny hopping and if i take my foot of the throttle it will stall and wont start. Again if i leave it over night it will start again......
I have replaced battery with a new one, oil is ok, radiator ok, have replaced fuel filter as it hasnt been done and very dirty, cleaned the carby thought their might be dirt from fuel filter in the carby but no it was clean...the alternator bearings are shot, but alternator still hcharging battery so......please help any suggestions???????
My thoughts so far are to replaced the external fuel pump as it might not have enough to pump the fuel, and to replace alternator, but after that have no idea

before starting it in the afternoon, take your fuel cap off and put it back on

I agree, sounds like a vapour lock in the fuel system. Engine change may have interfered with the tank breathing.
