What engine? If it's an M-series, its a thoroughly Modern engine, timing chain, VVT etc, can't think of anything to make you feel that they won't do 110kph all day long, Probably won't keep the speed up the hills, but they'll be fine on the flat. It's a short stroke engine - loves to rev, red line the little bugger occasionally, it's good for an engine so long as you keep them maintained. i've had small engines all my life, and you can thrash them hard if you keep the maintenance up, and it's my supsicion that the red line is artificially low to prolongue engine life. A short-stroke 16v with VVT should rev higher then the factory imposed rev limiter.

Fastest I've been in a jimny was 170kph :o M18a though....it sat on the speed for about 25kms before we had to slow down for a bend

Well my stock Jimny cruises at 110kph at 3100rpm so I suspect if I could somehow overcome wind resistance and all the rest that I could even cruise at 200! But my '01 Jim sat at 4300rpm comfortably for all my freeway trips, some 3 hours long. The M13A will cruise at 4k comfortably all day, just a bit noisy!

My old 2001 M13A Jimny with low gears did 4950 @ 110 and was happy enough but to be kind to it I generally hovered at around 100.
My new 2006 VVT Jimny is geared taller than the old Jimny but still lower than a stocker. 110 = 4000 and it seems very happy there. As squibby wrote they love to rev. Peak torque in the VVT seems to start at about 3400 so she's only just getting wound up :D

Hi everyone and thanks for the reply this has been very helpful. My Jimny is the 1.3L the engine and running gear is all stock and believe it or not the little jim has traveled just OVER 340,000k's and I have just put Cooper Discovery 225/70r15's on it.

also below are pics and if you are wondering it doubles as my work car

And a lot of bull bar. 225/70 tyres should have you geared taller for highway running so you shouldn't be too concerned about revs at highway speed. By the way, keep in mind that those tyres will give you an incorrect speedo reading by about 8%, thus when your speedo says 100 you're actually doing about 108km/hr. You can check it against a navigator if you have one.

It is, but if its been looked after, and serviced regularly, it should get 350,000kms easily, and still be fine... :D

Well I bought it 8000 k's ago and the only things I have had to replace was the rear pinion seal and the in tank fuel filter I bought it for my business to use as a moving billboard when I up grade and I picked it up for $2500 with 4 months rego and it runs well
