smoke is good it means your engine is getting plenty of oil which is going to keep it alive, no smoke at all is a worry |

Some smoke is good but looking like its doing a burnout is to much. I just don't understand where all the oil is coming from after all i did and with the oil pump feed line disconected. |

Rebuild your pump. http://www.lj10.com/howto/cciscleaning/ While you're there, get a pipe cleaner and clean out all the lines, readjust the throttle cable and then it should be fine. It should barely smoke at all. |

some smoke is perfectly normal and on startup alot is normal particulary if u use the choke. Try changing the plugs too |

No there is no coolant leak and it is oil smoke. It does smoke on startup and it gets more smokey after it has had a drive and it is idleing. This motor has only done 40000klm from new but stored for over 15 years. The oil pump seems to be working fine. I had the oil pump feed line disconected and idled the motor with a little bit of a rev now and then for over 45 minutes and it still smokes so my question is where is the oil coming from? As the fuel was drained and replaced incase someone did a premix and i replaced the oil in the tank colud it have been possible for the oil in the tank to have leeked down into the crankcase through the oil pump and feed lines over the years the van was stored? |

could be sitting in the exhaust system, i had a subaru do this a few years ago just needed a couple hours on the road to burn it of and then it was fine |

Yep i have been thinking that was also a possibility as it would explane why it seems to make more smoke after a drive. I was hoping to get this booked in for a road worthy but i am not game to take it in with this much smoke coming out. |

When i drained the fuel and let some dry out on a plate there was a fair bit of oil left behind so with the premix in the fuel plus the standed oil injection it must have built up some excess oil in the muffler like MrRocky said. So after lots of driving it has cleared up veary well and has now passed the safety inspection so now i can get it regesterd WooHoo. Thanks for your help Jamie |
