Post subject:  Vitara power windows rear useless

Hey all,

Since I bought the Vit I have had problems with the rear electric windows...

The dealer fixed them the first time, said something about a switch. Anyway they randomly stopped working, first one, then the other. Then about a month ago, one started working for about a week, then stopped again. Despite the fact that the windows do no budge when the button is pressed, the engine revs change, indicating that the switch is working, and current is being drawn...

Has anyone had this problem before, and how do we fix it?

Cheers guys, if this has been solved before, add the link and I will read.

Thanks

My front passenger one has always been reluctant, but I don't use it often enough to bother fixing it.
Could be a dodgy connection somewhere, though as you say it's drawing power. Motors could just be fading with age/use, or something causing resistance to the windows. Pull the trims off and see if there's anything obvious, or try hotwiring the motors with a spare battery, see if there's any difference?

I think you will find either the motors are tired or their is binding in the mechanism. As said remover the trims and work the switch. You will soon see what they are getting hung up on. Most power windows I've fixed are window seal related or the mech is not tracking properly.

While your there add a bit of good quality light spray grease to the mech.

Furthermore, I "acquired" a new switch from a rude wrecker who insisted wasting my time when I was chasing a fuel tank... I received it as payment for my time :P Anyway the new switch made no difference... Gremlins with the suzuki are a pain

Okay, really cold morning the other day, got me thinking... I pressed the rear windows buttons and by some luck and a little bit of fiddling they both work again, although I found out I had wired the new switch backwards so the left button opens the right window. So Fantastic, didn't work all summer, now I don't need them and they do... Typical. Thanks guys!
