Post subject:  G16B Turn Direction and VL Engine Mounts

Hi all,

I was just wondering which way the Suzuki engines turn - the G16B specifically. I'm assuming it's clockwise when looking from the pulley side of the engine, but have seen a few things about some engines running CCW.

I'm just trying to make sure that the VL engine mounts I have are put the correct way.

I did read this from 2 stroker (paraphrased)

...the outer 'U" shaped metal cover is longer on one edge, on the passenger side this longer edge is at the bottom and on the drivers side this is at the top so that as the mount flexes under the torque of the engine it is limited by the outer metal cover.

Not having a dig, but just trying to clarify. If this were the case then I would be guessing that this setup is for a CCW spinning engine?

Thanks for any input

Spins clockwise, looking from the pulleys.

What 2stroker has said is correct.

Does this help?

Thanks jdk81,

Still trying to clarify though.

If what 2stroker said was correct I still don't understand why.
I have made a diagram below of the two ways the engine mounts can be oriented.
2stroker's way is on the left, whereas the way that I would imagine the mounts to go is on the right.

With 2stroker's set-up it seems as though the metal tabs aren't limiting anything?

Left is correct

Not adding any tech here, but with a VL mount either side, it won't matter which way you fit them...... they won't break. Not even with a G16B.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

the direction the block wants to twist is the opposite reaction

Ok, thanks guys.

So what you mean royce is that the block will turn CCW when the crank turns CW?

Cheers

If the engine turns clockwise the passengers side wants to lift under load.
I used to drive a KE20 Corolla with a broken passengers side mount and every time I took off at the lights the gearstick would belt me in the leg.

Both my vl mounts are square edges up. Tapered edges down. Fits nicer.
