hey just a quick question i want to know what is better drop down shackles or extended shackles if any could help it would be a big help |

Neither without a lot more information. Drop shackles are retarded. Longer shackles might be a useful part of a suspension configuration to get full spring travel. With stock length (not height) front or rear springs, there is almost no additional travel to be had by fitting longer shackles. If used in the front they degrade handling due to the reduction in caster. Point is, you use longer shackles if they are required, not because they are a good idea. If they aren't required, there's no reason to use them. It's all about the shackle travel required vs the relationship between compression travel and, droop, vs spring length. Steve. |

Greaseable shackles are a good idea if you use urethane bushes - they help to reduce "sticktion" - that first little creaky, grabby bit of travel characteristic of urethane bushes. Greaseable shackles can only be used with urethane bushes though. Grease eats rubber. Chris95 - yes, there's no reason to run extended shackles with a bolt in 2" lift. You will find it hard to get the axle to the bumpstop and the shocks will top out on droop if you run them, and handling will suffer. Steve. |
