| Post subject: | G16b Timing Belt Replacement. |
Alright guys I have done some searching and havent found any solid info on doing this myself. Does anyone who has done the job feel like doing a detailed write up for not only myself, but for future site reference? If not, Is there a specific Workshop manual I can purchase detailing the process of the job? Anything I should know..tips and hints? Hope you can help, Thanks fella's!

It's not as hard as I thunk it was going to be when I did mine. The main tip is to make sure that the crank and cam is at top dead centre. Having the workshop manual is just a guide on what steps should be taken but most of it you should be able to wing it. Youtube is your feind, generally most cars use the same process. The things that are a good idea to change at the same time is the tensioner pulley, water pump and any other belts, P/S, fan etc. |

Oh and when you get to taking the bottom crank.pulley off. REMEMBER!! It's not the big nut in the middle. Around that nut there are about 4 or 5 little Allen keys that you remove and it will fall off! |

Yep - not as hard as you'd think. The bottom crank pulley is a bastard to get off, but other than that just keep track of where the cam pulley is and work your way through. I did it without removing the radiator - not as easy but definitely possible. While you're in there it's worth doing water pump, all belts, and radiator hoses while the coolant's drained. |
