My rear piñon is moving around in circles and I have heard if you do the bearings in the diff it fixes it is this true?? And how hard is it?? and dos anyone know the bearing part numbers?? Cheers for the help |

i believe you need a press, but could be wrong, and you will need a new crush tube and have to reset the backlash and preload ect.. find one of the online manuals and have a read to see if its something you would want to do yourself. and get it fixed quick before (hopefully) your gearset is destroyed |

You need a FSM. If you read the FSM on diff setup you're likely to end up with a headache. You'll need a fish scale for checking drag, a dial indicator for play, a torque wrench, and make a special tool to set side bearing torque. I'd reckon the gear set is already toast. You will find the contact patch will now be at the outside edges of the teeth. You can take the whole lot to a shop, but you're likely to be wasting your money because they'll set it up and then call you and tell you the gears are worn out and it's pointless. Pinion bearing replacement and diff setup are reasonably complex/fiddly. I'd be getting a diff specialist to do it. You can do a quick and rough setup in your driveway, but it's going to flog out again quickly, or be noisy, or break, or all three. I've seen countless suzuki diffs that are impossible to get a correct gear pattern on due to denial that it's a precision job and denial that gears can be worn due to a loose pinion. You need a full diff rebuild kit, not just the bearings. Steve. |

You can try new bearings, seals and crush tube. My rear diff whined like hell since I bought the car. Eventually the whine got so bad, the diff started leaking. I rebuilt the diff and reused the diff gears. I used the FSM I used grease as gear wear indicator. However, I do have a dial indicator now. I set up a water container etc instead of fish scales (cheap fish scales would be easier). And I did make a tool for the side bearing torque I used a bit of plate, drilled and tapped some holes for bolts in to pick up the side bearing retainer. In the middle, I welded a nut to the plate, used the torque wrench on that. Also had to make a tool for undoing the pinion, nut. (need socket on long breaker bar, and plate that bolts to pinion flange and can be restrained (long handle, wedged somewhere, or clamped somplace etc). Takes a bit of torque to correctly crush the tube. And you have to be constantly checking starting torque with the fish scale. It is doable, but dont expect wonders. |

Oh, if you do decide to do it yourself, take your time and make your tools with a bit of effort. Theres a good chance you will use them again. |

That read up is very complex and impressive I think you should do one for the DIY section I'm going 3.9 centers front and rear and I'll get around to rebuilding mine with airleakers when I get the time and money thanks for the help guys to kind on here |
