Is there any harm in bypassing the lower water pipes on the 1.3 carby? They seem to just run to the adapter plate,which blocks the flow, then straight back out past where it came from, is this rite? I know pics help, but i dont have one

no, they are there for good reasons, Suzuki wouldnt fit them to a cheap car otherwise
if yours are blocked poke em clear again, the choke will work better then

Out of curiosity, what purpose do they serve? Why do they run to the adapter plate?

To cool what? Why does it run to the adapter plate? Seems the outlet could just run back under the inlet manifold and achieve the same thing?

They are for the automatic choke. They don't cool anything related to the carby. Once the coolant temperature rises the choke opens.

i could be wrong, but its not to cool anything. the choke is controlled by coolant temp. the colder the coolant the more the choke is active or closed which helps start and run the engine, when the coolant is at operating temp the choke is fully open and doesnt effect the engine at all.

The coolant lines which are on the joiner at the base plate, is there to heat the throttle body, and prevent icing up of the butterfly valves. As it sits they can freeze up below about 10 degrees ambient, with high humidity. This is due to the venturi effect, and fuel vapourisation dropping the air temp. Moisture in the air will freeze, even when the ambient is above freezing usually 10 or so on a moist day (fog, rainy etc) is enough. (which is why the warm air intake is also useful)

(which is why the warm air intake is also useful) My Sierra carb would freeze up regularly in high mountain winter driving, I had to turn off the snorkle to help in those situations.
