Ok i recently i purchased a diff from 'scott1482 '
i was told all my numbers should match up and the diff would be fine.
I TOTALLY OVERHAULED the diff spending $375 not inclucing the diff.
Now on thursday nyt i pulled the centre out and immediatly realised the center was verry different,at 1st glance i noticed there were 4 sun gears inside, and it was all bolted up almost like a barrel shape (inside the crown wheel)
Where as the new one was just a crown wheel and once unbolted the 2 sides would just split in half..AND it only had 2 sun gears inside
AANY way prayed it was the right one,put it in and then the axles wouldnt go in.f*ck....
so pulled an axles out the new centre and tried lining them up on the floor, nothing.
So tried the old diff and it clicked in str8 away.
So we counted the splines over and over and the new one had 22 and the old one had 26...
What i was hoping was maybe i can swap the crown wheel and pinion over from the new to the old cos thats what im thinkin is making my exsisting diff soo loud as i could see the wear on the teeth surface.(sunk it)
So whats my problem?
What diff have i rebuilt?
Can i swap my crown wheels, pinions over?or just the splined gears?

And i wanted to know are my front and rear diffs interchangeable??
I have a 93 wt
cheers jez.

zookkid, your new diff is a WT front, sounds like you are pulling the rear out of yours, no they arent interchangeable

you can swap the hemisphere over, out the barrel like 4 pinion bit into the diff you got rebuilt, you will have to swap the bearings over and reset the backlash back up, much easier than trying to swap the gears though

YES I AM REPLACING THE REAR.
so what i need to do is unbolt the crown wheel from the new 1,take the centre out,do the same to the old one and swap the centers.
and that shud be it.??
cheers guys

yeah thats that bit of it but the carrier bearings are pressed onto it and it doesnt jsut drop back in, you have to adjsut the bearing preload and gear backlash, which is where a good amount of the labour costs in a diff rebuild are
