ok so after shoping for a fair while I am still no closer to replacing my drivers side seat to stock (curently monza race seat that I hate) for rego. I can't find a secondhand one, and even if I could, stock jimny seats suck. I have done some shoping for new seats (something factory) and I have come across a set of forester seats, they are super cumfie, fairly good holding (nearly as good as wrx seats) they have a center fold down arm rest, lumber controll and in perfect condition they are worth $250 for the pair! as they are newer than the jimny they would meet the adr requirements. the rails look VERY close in width than jimny and the actual seat is only 40mm wider than the stock seats. what are requirements with legaly fitting them? "if" no or very very little rail nods are required does that make them legal? or do they still require a engeneering cert? |

They are NOTHING like WRX seats. I fitted some to a ford courier 6 months ago. They are however a very nice place to be. And any seating change requires approval. |

Fatzook wrote: They are NOTHING like WRX seats. That could only be a good thing. WRX seats are rubbish. I literally couldn't wait to get the stock seat out of my STi (It lasted a week). Unsupportive, uncomfortable, and sat far too high; not really the seats problem, but I was able to mount my SP-G Recaro low enough to make the car work ergonomically without anything other than the ADR approved bracketry, so it wasn't really the car either. To avoid dramas, I'd be putting a stock jimmy seat in for Rego, even if it's only in there for a little while. I don't think it's worth going through the approval process for another average seat. Steve. |

yeah Steve the issue is I can't find a stock jimny seat for a decent price atm. I thought wrx seats were OK but at $500 a pair id pass. |

nice! I'm planning on a round aus drive end of next year, so making Jim as cumfie as posible. I also think if the seats fit well enough and look "factory" it will pass through rego without question. |

ok spoke to a place in hobart as long as there is no welding, any modifications are done with 3mm+ plate and all bolts are grade8 seats can be signed off for $45 each. so I will pick up seats next week cash depending and see how I go. |
