Can i rip the heat shield off my Stock exhaust manifold and leave it off?
I broke a bolt on it and now it makes funny noise at 3500rpm(vibration)
What is it for?...Should i just put bolts back in it to shut it up?

AND if i go buy headers for 1.3 am i gunna be able to use em on 1.6 motor?

Let me guess... the bolt that broke was the on closest to the firewall?
Reason I ask is, that same bolt has snapped for me, my father in law, and on my parts car.

My father in law has left his off, no problems.

Lol that one's been missin for ages!!!I snapped the one near the radiator.

although its sort of like the redline buzzer in a mazda
(young blokes won't know i mean) coz it starts to make noise when i get to where i change up anyway!!!!

Extractors for the 1.3 will fit on the 1.6 carby, but not the 1.6 efi.

The heat shield normally has a pipe that runs over to the airbox, just helps for cold starting/running. Rip it off and throw it in the bin.

The shroud is there for cold climates, there is / was a pipe from the shroud to the air intake which mixed warm air from around the exhaust with the cold air to assist combustion

don't throw the heat sheild away. It can be used later for many things

like if you have extractors and where all the pipes meet near the firewall sometimes it can get very hot on the passenger floor. I know you don't care about your passenger but sometimes when you buy a cold six pack and go to a mates house and you put it on the floor it will get warmer.

You can fit the heat sheild to the outside of the firewall to combat HBS (hot beer syndrome)

Also if you put a electric fuel pump on the engine you may use the heat sheild as protecting plate under the car from rocks sticks and even heat from the exhaust

But you don't need it on the engine
