Noticed today my bonnet wouldn't close properly. Then found the passenger side bonnet hinge had cracked from the surrounding metal.

Has anyone had this happen before? Anyone got any idea why it happened? (possibly due to shoddy maruti build quality :x ) And does anyone have any hints as to how it can be fixed?

Any help appreciated

It happened because its a sierra and they are made from old coke cans. get used to the cracks, there are probably dozens more that you don't know about yet 8)

I wish they were made of coke cans then they wouldn't rust.

Mate its a common thing to get cracks in any well used 4x4 no matter what the brand it is. It is an easy fix just take the bonnet off tap the cowl area back into position and weld it up with a mig. Check all your body mounts, perrished or disintergrated mounts can cause unnatural flexing and cracking.

There are two rubber stoppers under the bonnet, in the corners at the front. If the bonnet isn't resting on these it can rattle around and might cause cracking like that. It'll be pretty rattly though, so you'd probably have noticed it by now.
