My strut mounts need replacing, known this for a while but was told it's not a safety issue when I had struts put in.

Is this a normal thing to wear out, Anyone else replaced them cause they've worn.
They make a clunking noise and move about 2-3mm where the rubber mount is when I rock the car, I can hear it too when going over the gutter slowly going out the driveway.

looks like there called a Strut Cartridge?

I found some for sale on an American web site. http://www.autopartsexpress.com/Parts/S ... ridge.html
Just looking at fixing all the niggling minor things with the GV.

Yep. Also called strut top mount, or pillow ball mount. It is a consumable part of the suspension system, just like control arm bushes etc. The bonded rubber assembly will eventually fail. It is a common maintanence issue for A LOT of different cars.

I can't find them from Australia, is it a part I can get from repco?

looks like it has a metal bush so not possible to make it tighter to squish the rubber bush more.

try fulcrum at stafford if you are around the area they can usually get parts in at a good price and usually fairly quickly

Under new management now. Terry Quit. Baz is still there, although he looks to be less than enthusiastic about it.
