Does anyone know if I can put a 1.6 Litre head on a 1.3 Litre engine? I have a 1985 SJ51T with a G13A engine in it.. Just wanting a little more without spending a fortune. I read somewhere this was possible and the 1.6 Litre heads had bigger valves? |

You will notice very little difference, if any. Fit the whole 1.6, or don't bother. ( that is unless your 1.3L head is stuffed and needs replacing anyway) |

Having fitted a 1600 head, manifold and carbie to a 1300 I personally think it is a good thing to do, the 1600 head and manifold flows way better than a 1300 head and contrary to common belief it does not lower compresion as the combustion chamber has nearly identical CC to the 1300. The car that it was on ran beautifully, it acceleraterd better, it held speed on open road better and generally felt like a much more willing engine. This was a bit of an experiment, there was nothing wrong with the old head so the comparison was not tainted. |
