Ok guys advice time once again I have asked suzifour about engine swap they say 1.6, I am just wondering is it worth it as there isn't much kw or torque difference? I would like to go 1.8 but does anyone know of a shop that will do the job around Sydney/central coast? |

Cheers. Bit disapointing can't go bigger without major expense/hassles though. |

with a bit more work, maybe the J20a. or the J18 from a baleno though you might have issues with clutch and fly wheel. probably better off changing the gearbox out for some thing a bit stronger any way. jimnys arent known for their strong gearboxes |

Done the Hilux thing before and broke gearbox,s etc in that. Bought the Suzuki mainly for half decent fuel economy as I drive around 300kms a day 6 days a week, wanted the ability to have a little stronger suspension setup than a sedan as I bent a strut in my vz wagon hitting potholes hard and also thought it would be a bit of fun on a weekend to do a bit of offroad tripping around in it.Now I have the opportunity to purchase a camper trailer for a good price and a little concerned the 1.3 won't cut the mustard in the towing department. |

IMO the power of the 1.3 won't be a problem but rather the weight of your camper trailer behind a lightweight rig. My 1.3 has towed various trailers on the highway without a problem power wise. I'd be more worried about the handling characteristics of a larger trailer on poor road surfaces behind a very light vehicle. My coily has a braked towing capacity of 450kgs (although I and a lot of other people have towed loads far greater than that). Personally I'd be more interested in brake upgrades and a clutch/gearbox upgrade than just an engine upgrade. |
