After removing my carby i noticed this small hole on the carby base plate, its the water jacket thingy for the choke. There is no hole in the inlet manifold. Got me thinking its eaten a hole through.

That's normal, it heats the carby for cold weather, or you get carb freeze at speed.

Thanks mate, I scraped off the gasket and cleaned the port out seems ok. The gasket has no hole that lines up with it. Do you know the water travels into a jacket in the inlet manifold or does it just stop against the paper gasket?

Mine stopped dead at gasket. Tho mine was an early model.
I bet the carbs are all the same anyway
