what about the RHS for those not fortunate enough to have a bolt in CV on that side.

Hey guys, I have a torn outer cv boot on the passenger side of my 91 JLX Vit hardtop Spoke with my mechanic and he is recommending to change the whole shaft. Is this overkill? Is the quality of a rebuilt/new shaft the same as OEM suzuki? Or should I just tell him to replace the torn boot |

When the boots on my vitara were rooted i was quoted $90 per boot to replace. I ended up getting whole shafts off ebay for about 150-200$ for a pair used them for 2 years and never had an issue. |

I would say it depends on the condition of the joint - I've replaced all four boots on my GV - but - if you're in the situation that matty_wall was, and trust the ebay seller, by all means save yourself a buck or two. |

Sweet, found the one i need. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Suzuki-Vitar ... 236wt_1163 However when i was at pick and payless i tried to take a drive shaft out. but failed. Are there any guides on how to remove the driveshaft? |

Driveshaft as in tailshaft (transfer to diff) or CV shaft (diff to hub)? |

Inside is simple, just unbolt from flange. Outside - undo allen bolts holding hub cover (lock selector thingy) on, remove hub cover, remove circlip, slide CV out. (Am I missing anything?) |

Sounds right to me however u can pull the whole hub off as a single piece |

He said passenger side, so that's what I went with  I wonder what someone would try to unbolt on the other side - diff bracket?I don't have a bolt in drivers side yet, that's on the long list of parts taking up space in my back room

just take note on that ebay listing for the future if you ever do need to do drivers side that listing was for a 22 spline count shaft so it would pay to pull old shaft out before buying to make sure you get the right gear. |
