They were never available in Australia as far as I know.

I don't think I'd use one to run a winch mechanically, but it would be cool to drive a hydraulic pump with one.

The biggest problem with them as far asI can see is that they require a unique input gear to the transfer case, so they aren't compatible with reduction gears.

I would have thought someone like Joeblow would have come up with something to make these viable here by now.

How did those zooks from Thailand that came over and embarrassed everyone in the outback challange do their "gods winches"?

With a FWD transaxle. One driveshaft drove the "god winch" the other drives back to a transfer case. Top speed approximately 90km/h at 8000rpm.

It's 100% possible to build a pto off a sierra transfer, but it's going to be a lot of work. I could only really think of two applications - a winch, or a high speed compressor. PTO winches, and high speed stand alone (belt drive) compressors are super heavy and bulky. PTO driven stuff is really intended for all day/every day type use in non-weight-critical applications. I don't really think a sierra is a good candidate.

I suppose you're right steve. With the price of the small winches a zook needs I guess it's a moot point anyway. Wish they didn't ban those Thai zooks though, damn Warn sponsorship scared of people not buying their stuff.
