Hey All. I am looking at getting a snorkel for my jimny, just wondering if anyone has any experience with Scintex???? They seem to have a pretty good write up and warranty, and look very similar to the TJM ones, however, for much less $$. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Snorkel-Kit- ... 939wt_1185 Apologies if this qn has been asked before, I did do a search first, though couldn't find anything on it... thanks for your time. Well is plastic, NOT fibreglass, so it sounds like a winner to me! |

Looks like a good one if it has all the features advertised, example, "flexible conecting" I've only fitted a couple of snorkels so far, both big plastic chunky clones of this design. The hard bit is usually getting the pipe from the snorkel to the Airbox to line up. You just guess basically since there are a few variables, you can't measure. So the flexible connector is a good idea. buy it. Or get the Fibre glass one. Some people have a problem with fibre glass, but lets not forget, it was the 'carbon fibre' of the 60's. Lightweight and Hard. It's only out of fashion because it's been surplanted by Kevlar and Carbon fibre. |

Fibreglass HATES impact. Plastic is alot more tolerant, and this makes it a better candidate for a snorkle IMO, as the chances of a tree/ branch strike are quite high. |

Agrajagzz9 was the bloke that has one here it is here parked next to my rig PM him and ask him what he rekons, that pic was a while back. i remember the head for it was the only different looking bit, but that was comparing it to the airtek, it looked a bit cheaper but you could just swap with an airtek head. the rest was pretty much identical from what i could tell (didnt pop the hood but). If you look REALLY closely you can see it has "Jimny" written on it. |

Well, my snorkel finally arrived, looks pretty good. Will post a pic of the kit once I work out how. Hopefully that works... Now I just need to get it installed. Does anyone happen to know who would do this? I have rung ARB, who only install their own snorkels, and a few other places in cairns, though most are only interested in installing the ones they supply (which is fair enough, though a tad frustrating). Just wondering if anyone knows of a good installer in cairns (or preferably Innisfail) who would do this. Otherwise, back to the phone book! |

Squibby installed mine my idea of a workshop is my 1mx1m city balcony If you have any mates (or even your normal mechanic at a pinch) with a decent workshop, they can cut/drill the holes to the template (with a test fit of the snorkel, as the template isnt reliable), and rivet the top bracket (if design is the same as ours), much less than an hour of work. Only tool they may not have is a correctly-size hole saw for the guard through to the airbox. You just drive it home and do the de-burring (sandpaper) and painting (few layers of undercoat around the new holes) yourself, then bolting of the snorkel on, as thats the timewasting part. |

If you come to Townsville I can help you fit it. I did mine on my jimmy. Took maybe an hour to do and was easy as. Just don't watch when someone cuts a hole in your guard. |
