Hi guys, This is driving me nuts! I've got a '91 SWB Vitara. When the car starts in the mornings it runs rough. When she's warm (after about 5-10 minutes of driving) it goes fine. I had the local mechanic replace the carbie, but it made no difference. Now that I followed it up further, it seems like it's the front cylinder that is missing. I swapped plugs around, but it's still the same. Would it be the distributor? I sprayed WD40 in it, but no difference. Maybe the HT leads? A dodgy earth somewhere? I'm stumped. I've looked over the net and haven't found anything yet. Any ideas? Cheers, Tim. |

Have you checked that the auto choke is working? Have you tried swapping leads around to eliminate them as a cause? |

Aha! (Not the 80's band.) I got new plugs and leads and the problem is now fixed. Initially I just swapped the plug and lead on the front cylinder and the problem went away, but I figured I may as well swap them all. I even went as far as draining and ditching all the fuel before to see if that was the problem. It wasn't Thanks for your help. |

I'm having the same issues, but I got an EFI version....I'll give the plugs and leads a go. Yet to do a full proper service on the thing.. |

Hey mate, $6.50 per HT lead from the local servo. Which, added up, is still half the price of a set from any of the auto shops. Go figure... Mine runs fine now. Never done a proper service either. |
